Hello 2GY! Angela here. :)
I just wanted to drop by and say a few words- 3 words, to be exact...

I MISS YOU!

Class seems so strange without 2GY... :(
I know most of us are all split up, and we're all rushing down the staircases to see our friends on the 1st floor although we live on the 3rd. Although that may be so, I'm sure we'll all stay in touch, and hopefully another class party will crop up soon. *hint hint* :)

I miss all of you so much! Even our teachers too. :P You've all been a really memorable, exultant, enthu, very cheerful (and rioting) class.

hello hello :D okay some stuff you might want to know about history sbq from MR ANG :D The stuff in red are mr angs answers :D

Like when you have to make a clear stand at the beginning, when you have to give advantages/disadvantages, similarities/differences, how many points to give for each side you take etc.

For advantages and disadvantages, I would take it that you mean utility question which is HOW USEFUL. How useful questions requires you to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the source. For example, for STRENGTHS, you basically need to see if the source has given you more insight into the topic. If it has, it's a strength. For weaknesses, it means that the source is not providing you with enough information of which you may derive from other sources, references or even your text book.

For similarities and differences, you have to compare the 2 sources and look for similarities and differences pertaining to the TOPIC required in the QUESTION.
For both type of question, how many points to give for each side is not the crucial factor. What matters more is how thorough your answer is. As a general guide, one or two points for each side would suffice.

Also, do you have to conclude and bring it back to the question?

A concluding statement can be two lines which would not take up too much time. Otherwise, ignore the concluding statement. BUT YOU MUST MAKE A STAND IN THE BEGINNING OF YOUR ANSWER. REFER BACK TO WHAT WE DONE BEFORE FOR SOURCE BASED.

When comparing 3 sources, what are the points to note?

When comparing 3 sources, do the same as when you compare 2 sources. WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT IS TO ADDRESS THE TOPIC OF THE QUESTION.

How much do we write for the marks allocated? Like how many points and stuff

Again it is not how many points but how thorough and comprehensive your answer is. Be concise. Be clear in your answer. Don't beat around the bush. Go straight for the main points. You can derive the main points from the topic required in the question.

How do you write short answers but still be able to answer the question?

BE CONCISE. BE CLEAR. ANSWER THE QUESTION.

So do we just stick to your way of answering SBQs? Cuz other teachers have all kinds of weird & unclear ways of answering

Follow what we done before. Wont go wrong.

Is cross-referencing the same as using your contextual knowledge?
Yes it can be the same.

When can you cross refer? Is it encouraged to cross refer?

You cross reference when you answer How Far questions or what you are given a question like DO YOU AGREEFor inference questions, normally there is no need to cross reference as when YOU infer, it basically means make conclusions based on evidence and evidence is from the source

Can you still cross refer to other sources given if the question doesn't ask you to? As in like the question says compare btwn sources A & B, but you take some evidence from C.
You can but I don't see the need to cross reference if you are not answering how far or do you agree questions.
